Greasy Grouper (Epinephelus tauvina)

Description: The Greasy Grouper, also known as the Braunfleck-Zackenbarsch or Epinephelus tauvina, is a fish native to the Indo-Pacific region, typically reaching lengths of up to 75 cm. These elusive marine creatures are predominantly found in reefs and rarely venture into open waters. When threatened, the Greasy Grouper can raise its spiky dorsal fins as a defense mechanism. There is suspicion that this fish may transmit Ciguatera poisoning.
