Fascinating Humphead Wrasse - A majestic inhabitant of the sea (00017655)
Description: The Humphead Wrasse, also known as Napoleon Wrasse or Cheilinus undulatus, is a fascinating creature that inhabits the waters of the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. This species can grow over two meters in length and prefers to live along the edges of coral reefs. Despite its impressive size, the Humphead Wrasse is very friendly and provides divers with an unforgettable experience. During the night, it retreats to its sleeping den, making it unfortunately an easy target for unregulated fishing. The population of this species has declined significantly due to its popularity as a delicacy, exacerbated by the use of cyanide in fishing practices. It is regrettable that the conservation of this mesmerizing fish is so challenging, given its crucial role in the reef ecosystem.
