Description: The Great Sphinx of Giza is one of the most fascinating and mysterious monuments in the world. It stands majestically about 350 meters from the Cheops Pyramid and is made of the yellowish limestone rock of the Giza Plateau. With a length of approximately 73.5 meters and a height of about 20 meters, the Sphinx has been impressing visitors from around the globe for over four millennia. Its human head on the body of a recumbent lion represents a unique fusion of man and beast. The Great Sphinx is aligned in an east-west axis, facing the sunrise in the east every morning. Despite extensive studies, its origin and purpose remain an enigma.
