Great Sphinx of Giza portrait

Description: The Great Sphinx of Giza is one of the most fascinating and mysterious monuments of the ancient world. Located approximately 350 m from the Cheops Pyramid, it depicts a reclining lion with a human head. For over 4000 years, the Sphinx has stood majestically in the Egyptian desert, gazing towards the sunrise in the east. Carved from the yellowish limestone bedrock of the Giza Plateau, it measures an impressive 73.5 m in length and about 20 m in height. The Sphinx is situated to the east of the Khafre Pyramid and is aligned perfectly on an east-west axis. Despite extensive research, the true builders of the Sphinx, whether Cheops or Khafre, remain unknown. Its purpose also continues to elude scholars.
