Description: Richards Bay Harbour in Natal, South Africa, witnessed intense construction work on the North Breakwater. The delay in the delivery of the Manitowoc 4600 led to the significant involvement of the wheel loader Caterpillar 988 in the construction. A dike was erected around the construction site to control the excavation material. Day and night, the dike was repaired with the 988 wheel loader, while a groundwater drop kept the construction site dry. Despite the later use of the Manitowoc 4600, the precision of the Caterpillar 988 was indispensable.
