Description: The high-performance dredger GEOPOTES X is conducting extensive construction work on the quaywall at Ras el Tin Harbor. Dredging and sand fill operations were carried out with various dredgers. Among other tasks, a soil exchange had to be performed under the block wall down to -24 meters, followed by a sand fill up to -14.60 meters. The trailing suction hopper dredger Amerigo Vespucci sucked up sand outside the port of Alexandria and unloaded 2200 m³ on the future block wall foundation per trip. Only after sufficient compaction of the sand using the 'Vibro-Compaction method' could the installation of the 'Bedding Stone' commence. The Vibro-Compaction works lasted about two months before further construction of the block bearing area could proceed.
