Impressive harbor construction featuring Galilei 2000 dredging in Ras el Tin, Alexandria (00093024)
Description: The quaywall construction in Ras el Tin, Alexandria, involved extensive dredging and sand fill operations with the Galilei 2000 dredger. Ground replacement down to -24 m and sand fill up to -14.60 m were conducted. The trailing suction hopper dredger Amerigo Vespucci sucked sand outside the port of Alexandria and discharged 2200 m³ per trip at the future block wall foundation. Construction work on the block standing area could only proceed after adequate compaction of the sand using the Vibro-Compaction method.
