Description: Midway/Hawaiian Islands/USA The Midway Atoll rises 1200 miles northwest of Honolulu, 2800 miles west of San Francisco, and 2200 miles from Japan in the Pacific Ocean. During my stay in July 2001, I explored the lagoons of this remote atoll daily. The crystal clear water in the lagoon enchants with its diverse colors, depending on the sunlight and the seabed. From turquoise to green to blue, the water presents itself in ever-changing facets. The view from the lagoon to the green island with its snow-white beach and deep blue sky is unforgettable, radiating a perfect South Sea idyll.
