Description: The Spruce Grouse (Dendragapus canadensis) is a North American bird inhabiting the coniferous forests of northern North America. In the dense undergrowth at Brooks River in Katmai, Alaska, I was able to observe this friendly bird diligently collecting red cranberries and feeding on buds and leaves. A fascinating nature experience amidst the pristine wilderness of Alaska.
