Description: The Spruce Grouse (Dendragapus canadensis) is a North American bird that inhabits the forests of the North American taiga. In this image, the Spruce Grouse can be seen in the dense undergrowth at Brooks River in Alaska, diligently collecting red cranberries. Winter is approaching, and soon the Spruce Grouse will mainly feed on pine needles.
