Captivating Images of South African Fur Seals on Geyser Rock (00000508)

South African Fur Seals on Geyser Rock

Description: The South African fur seals are at home on Geyser Rock, a rocky island off the coast of Gansbaai in the Western Cape. With a colony of about 36,000 animals, this place is a significant habitat for the seals. Although the seals are safe in the immediate vicinity of the island, they must cross a dangerous zone where Great White Sharks lurk on their fishing expeditions into the open sea. The high concentration of these predators is due to the presence of the seals. A fascinating natural spectacle that strikingly demonstrates the relationship between predator and prey.
