Fur seals Pasha enjoys being spoiled

Description: The South African fur seal, scientific name Arctocephalus pusillus, lives in a large colony on the rocky island of Geyser Rock near Dyer Island. These animals are safe as long as they stay on land or in the shallow water near the island. However, when they go fishing in the open sea, they have to cross a dangerous zone where Great White Sharks lurk. The high concentration of these predators is due to the colony of South African fur seals, who can dive up to 40 to 50 meters deep for up to five minutes. Learn more about the fascinating behavior of these animals and the dangers they face when crossing the ocean.
