Fascinating Insights: Acoustic transmitter in the fish head of a Bull shark in the Beqa Lagoon, Fiji (00018047)
Description: The image shows the transmitter position in the fish head of a Bull shark off the coast of Pacific Harbour in the Beqa Lagoon on the island of Vitu Levu in Fiji. The study on the migration behavior of Bull sharks was initiated by Dr. Juerg Brunnschweiler in the 'Shark Fin Reef' marine protected area. Shark expert Mike Neumann leads the shark protection zone project in the Fiji Islands. By using small acoustic transmitters in bait, the movement patterns of tagged Bull sharks can be tracked within a radius of up to 800 meters.
