Description: With its mouth open, the Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) emerges from the opaque waters. Its sharp teeth are feared, and with the movable upper jaw, it can hunt large prey. African penguins, cormorants, and a large colony of South African fur seals live here. The surface hunter often finds its prey on the water surface. The Great White Shark is the top predator of the food chain and plays an important role in conserving the ecological balance in the ocean. There is very little known about its behavior and habitat. There is a danger that the Great White Shark will be exterminated by human activities.
