Description: The Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) breaks through the water surface with its mouth wide open. This fascinating predator lives six sea miles off the coast of Gansbaai near Dyer Island, South Africa. Surrounded by African penguins, cormorants, and a large colony of South African fur seals, the Great White Shark is a feared hunter at the top of the food chain. Its powerful body and impressive jaws make it a constant threat to the seals in the area.
