Fascinating hunter of the seas: The Great White Shark

Description: The Great White Shark, scientifically known as Carcharodon carcharias, is one of the most fascinating hunters of the seas. In this image, a majestic Great White Shark crosses the waters near Geyser Rock and Dyer Island off the coast of South Africa. Here, in the Western Cape of South Africa, it shares its habitat with African penguins, cormorants, and a variety of other seabirds, as well as a large colony of South African fur seals (Arctocephalus pusillus). The Great White Shark, with its imposing size, strength, and feared jaws, poses a constant threat to the seals. These apex predators belong to the mackerel shark family and are characterized by their large gill openings and long pectoral fins. The largest Great White Shark ever caught measured 6.4 meters in length and weighed an estimated 1500 kg.
