Dramatic story of the wreck of the Meisho Maru 38 at Needle Cape (00007007)
Description: Cape Agulhas in the Overberg District, Western Cape, South Africa, is notorious for its strong winds and treacherous waters where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans converge. The lighthouse, built in 1848, still stands and guides ships with its beacons reaching a range of 60 kilometers. Nevertheless, many ships fell victim to the 'Needle Cape', the southernmost point of the African continent. On November 16, 1982, the Meisho Maru 38 also met this fate, leaving its remains visible at the Cape to this day.
Location: Western Cape, Cape Agulhas, South Africa
