The Wreck of Meisho Maru 38 at Cape Agulhas - A Testament to the Forces of Nature (00007021)

Meisho Maru 38 - The Tragic End at Cape Agulhas

Description: Cape Agulhas in the Overberg District of the Western Cape province, South Africa, is famous for its wild beauty. Here, at the southernmost tip of the African continent, the Atlantic and Indian Oceans merge. The Cape Agulhas lighthouse, built in 1848, still stands strong against the turbulent winds. Its lights reach up to 60 kilometers and guide ships on their way. However, this treacherous cape has been the downfall of many vessels, including the Meisho Maru 38, which met its tragic end here on November 16, 1982.
