This few days old pup is spotted moving close to the water surface six sea miles off the coast of Gansbaai, near Dyer Island and Gyser Rock. Great White Sharks are fully developed at birth and must fend for themselves from the start. Their main source of food includes small fish and squids. Despite their curiosity, they are extremely cautious and vanish immediately upon the approach of an adult shark. Only a few pups make it to adulthood.
