Observing Curious Baby Great White Shark near Gansbaai

Description: The Baby Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) is seen moving six sea miles off the coast of Gansbaai, near Dyer Island and Gyser Rock. This image captures the few days old pup cautiously swimming close to the water surface. Great White Sharks are born fully developed and self-sufficient. Their diet primarily consists of small fish and squids. The young sharks are curious yet cautious, retreating when adult sharks appear. Only a few pups survive to adulthood.
