Description: The Baby Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) cautiously explores its surroundings. Near Gansbaai and Dyer Island, off the coast of the Western Cape in South Africa, the few days old pup swims curiously close to the water surface. Great White Sharks are fully developed and independent from birth. They feed on small fish and squids. Young sharks are extremely cautious and flee when an adult shark appears. Only a few manage to reach adulthood.
