Description: The Great White Shark, also known as Carcharodon carcharias, is one of the most fascinating creatures of the sea. In this image, we witness a baby Great White Shark approaching the camera dynamically. Located just six sea miles off the coast of Gansbaai, near Dyer Island and Gyser Rock, the young Great White Shark is swimming close to the water surface. Great White Sharks are fully developed at birth and must fend for themselves from the start. These pups feed on small fish and squids. They are extremely cautious and quickly retreat at the sight of an adult shark. Only a few manage to reach adulthood.
