Description: The dead Sockeye salmon, also known as Blueback salmon or Sockeye salmon, returns to its birthplace in Lake Coville in the Katmai backcountry in Alaska after a long life in the ocean. After fulfilling its spawning duty, the cycle of its life ends here. The carcasses of the salmon are not only a sign of the end, but also an important food source for many animals in the region.
