Gray reef shark (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos) gliding over coral reef (00018895)
Description: The gray reef shark (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos) is a common shark in the Indo-Pacific region. It is often seen in shallow water near coral reefs. With its broad, round snout and large eyes, it is a fascinating sight. This species can be distinguished by the plain or white-tipped first dorsal fin, the dark tips on the other fins, and the broad black rear margin on the tail fin from similar species. Most individuals are less than 1.9 m long. Gray reef sharks are fast-swimming, agile predators that feed primarily on fishes and cephalopods.
