Description: The Portuguese man o' war (Physalia utriculus) is a fascinating yet dangerous creature of the sea. Its striking, blueish gas bladder serves as a camouflage for the deadly tentacles beneath. With lengths of up to 10 meters, these tentacles are extremely hazardous, equipped with up to 1000 cnidocytes per centimeter. Their venomous cocktail paralyzes nerve cells, leading to respiratory and circulatory failure. Direct contact with the tentacles can have life-threatening consequences, as evidenced by an incident off the coast of Karachi. Immediate medical attention is essential!
