Concrete Head on North Breakwater in Richards Bay, South Africa

Description: The concrete head on the North Breakwater in the port of Richards Bay, Natal, South Africa, was constructed under challenging conditions. Despite significant delays in the delivery of the Manitowoc 4600, the construction site was successfully kept dry thanks to a dike around the excavation material and a ground water drop. The 8.0 m wide and 2.40 m thick concrete head is made of unreinforced concrete and represents an impressive engineering project.
