Description: In Richards Bay, Natal, South Africa, concrete-work is taking place on the North Breakwater. The stone filling lies 3.0 m above tidal low water and is exposed to the waves. The 8.0 m wide and 2.40 m thick concrete head must be completed for the Manitowoc 4600 to proceed. Heavy steel formwork is positioned using the crane, and concrete is poured. The steel formwork transfers the crane's weight onto the stone filling, allowing it to drive forward onto the freshly concreted block.
