Impressive Great Frigatebird on Eastern Island (00005441)
Description: The Great Frigatebird, scientifically known as Fregata minor palmerstoni, is a fascinating seabird that calls Eastern Island its home. With an impressive wingspan of around two meters and a lightweight of less than two kilograms, they are masters of flight. Their prey mainly consists of flying fish, squids, and other fish near the water's surface. Newly hatched turtles and seabird chicks are particularly vulnerable. They are also notorious as air pirates that prey on other seabirds. This majestic bird is a true aerial wonder of nature.
