Placing of Concrete Blocks with the Floating Crane 'Gamal' at Ras el Tin Harbor, Alexandria

Description: The construction of the quay wall in Ras el Tin Harbor, Alexandria, was a complex and fascinating construction project that required the use of the floating crane 'Gamal'. A total of 859 concrete blocks, weighing between 52 and 87 tons, were placed to build a 550-meter-long block wall. This process required precise planning and execution, as different block types were used and the blocks were stacked in five layers from -12.60 to EL+0.80. The blocks were transported using a 100-ton portal crane and a transport pontoon. The wall construction had to be frequently interrupted and restarted at different locations due to extensive dredging work.
