An impressive Southern Right Whale in the Walker Bay (00015877)
Description: The Southern Right Whale, also known as Eubalaena australis, is a fascinating marine creature. It breaks through the water surface majestically, showcasing its impressive size. These whales belong to the Balaenidae family and are closely related to the North Right Whale and the rare Bowhead Whale. Southern Right Whales can reach lengths of up to 18 meters and primarily feed on krill and other crustaceans. They inhabit the waters around the South Pole as well as regions like South Africa, South America, and New Zealand. Unfortunately, they have been severely depleted due to hunting, with only a few of these magnificent creatures remaining.
