Description: The Common Warthog (Phacochoerus africanus) inhabits the open, arid landscapes of Africa south of the Sahara. Known for their distinctive facial warts, especially prominent in males, warthogs are captivating creatures. They live in groups, mainly feed on grass, and are herbivores. Their main predators include lions, wild dogs, hyenas, and eagles. The Cape Province also used to be home to the Desert Warthog Phacochoerus aethiopicus aethiopicus, which was eradicated in the early 20th century.
