Elegant Kelp Gull approaching for landing on the Antarctic Peninsula (00004385)
Description: The Kelp Gull (Larus dominicanus) is a majestic species of gull, seen here approaching for a graceful landing. With its yellow beak and distinctive red spot on the lower beak, it is easily recognizable. This gull species has the ability to maneuver in the air with great agility. Found breeding on the Antarctic Peninsula, they primarily feed on Antarctic limpets. Adults of the species have dark eyes and whitish-yellow feet, and are exclusively located in coastal areas.
