Description: The Swift tern (Sterna bergii) is an elegant seabird that can be found along the coasts of South Africa throughout the year. On the offshore islands, such as Dyer Island in the Western Cape, they often breed alongside other bird species. This beauty primarily feeds on small fish, crustaceans, and mollusks, which it hunts in close proximity to the coast. With its keen eyesight, it glides closely above the sea surface and elegantly dives for prey.
