Fairy-like white tern elegantly lands on a branch in a tropical setting (00005610)
Description: The white tern, also known as fairy tern or Gygis alba rothchildi, is a graceful, delicate bird with snow-white plumage and large, black-rimmed eyes. Its presence against the deep blue tropical sky appears almost fairy-like and unrealistically beautiful. These elegant birds hunt for fish by gliding over the waves and swiftly plunging into the water. During the day, they feed their young with up to six small fish, carrying them back to the island in their bills. Approximately 7500 pairs breed on the Midway Islands, ensuring the continuation of their species.
