Description: The White Tern, also known as Fairy Tern or Gygis alba rothchildi, is a delicate, snow-white seabird with large black eyes. Its appearance is ghostly beautiful and fragile, especially when flying against the deep blue sky or in front of a white cloud. These birds hunt fish in flight over the sea and return in the evening with prey to feed their young. Approximately 7500 pairs breed on the Midway Islands, where they have a majestic presence.
