Description: The Hartlaub´s gull (Larus hartlaubii) is a fascinating gull species perched on the rocks of Dyer Island in the sun. These birds breed alongside the Swift terns (Sterna bergii) and are native to the west coast of southern Africa. They mainly feed on invertebrates and small fish, which they catch with impressive plunge diving maneuvers.
