Description: The majestic Laysan albatross, scientifically known as Phoebastria immutabilis, gracefully soars over the ocean. The Midway Atoll, a sanctuary for these impressive birds, is home to the largest breeding colony of this species. With a wingspan of 2.1 meters and weighing 2.4 kg, Laysan albatrosses are true flying artists. Their flight and navigation abilities are remarkable, as they can travel thousands of kilometers before returning to breed.
