Fascinating Sooty Tern on the ground of Eastern Island

Description: The Sooty Tern, also known as Sterna fuscata oahuensis, fascinates with its habitat on Eastern Island. Approximately 50,000 pairs of these birds nest on the islands, laying their eggs in the sand or on the runway surface. Despite the harsh conditions due to the war, they form large colonies. After the young birds have fledged, they spend up to three years continuously at sea, resting on driftwood or sleeping sea turtles. Sooty Terns are skilled hunters and fascinating creatures of the oceans.
