Description: The African Black Oystercatcher (Haematopus moquini) is a rare endemic bird species found along the coast of South Africa. These impressive birds breed between March and September and are acutely threatened by extinction. Despite the majority of the world population residing in South Africa and Namibia, only a few breeding pairs remain. Protective measures are urgently needed to ensure their survival.
