Lemon Shark in Shallow Water

Description: The Lemon Shark (Negaprion brevirostris) is a fascinating creature that can be found in the shallow waters of Shark Point at Walker's Cay, one of the Bahamas islands. These sharks can grow up to three meters in length and have a slow growth rate. It takes them 12-15 years to reach sexual maturity, resulting in a low reproductive rate. Their primary diet consists of bony fishes and mollusks, but they also prey on small sharks, rays, and even seabirds. Lemon sharks are nocturnal and prefer coastal areas and shallow waters. They are capable of spending short periods of time in freshwater and are considered potentially dangerous to humans.
