Fascinating Lemon Shark at Shark Point in the Bahamas (00003167)
Description: The majestic Lemon Shark (Negaprion brevirostris) is seen at Shark Point off Walker's Cay, the northernmost of the 700 Bahamas islands, searching for food. Growing up to three meters in length, the Lemon Shark matures slowly, taking 12-15 years to reach sexual maturity. Their reproduction rate is low, and they mainly feed on bony fish and mollusks. Despite being nocturnal, Lemon Sharks are commonly found in coastal areas and shallow waters. They can briefly tolerate freshwater and are considered potentially dangerous to humans.
