Meisho Maru 38 - Impressive Shipwreck at Cape Agulhas (00007013)
Description: Cape Agulhas in the Overberg District of the Western Cape province in South Africa is a place of great maritime significance. Here, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans converge, lies the stormy Cape Agulhas. The lighthouse, built in 1848, still illuminates the waters today, guiding ships with its powerful beacons. With a range of 60 kilometers, the lighthouse provides direction in the treacherous waters. Nevertheless, many ships succumbed to the 'Cape of Needles', the southernmost point of the African continent. On November 16, 1982, the Meisho Maru 38 met this fate, running aground here and since then, serving as a striking shipwreck adorning the coast of Cape Agulhas.
Location: Western Cape, Cape Agulhas, South Africa
