A curious Baby Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) exploring the surroundings (00015262)
Description: The Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) is a fascinating species. This baby specimen is swimming six sea miles off the coast of Gansbaai, near Dyer Island and Gyser Rock, just below the water surface. Great White Sharks are fully developed at birth and feed on smaller fish and squids. Young sharks like this one are extremely cautious and flee when adult sharks appear. Only a few manage to reach adulthood.
