A Baby Great White Shark displays caution in the hunting ground of the adults (00015432)
Description: The Great White Shark, scientifically known as Carcharodon carcharias, is one of the most fascinating creatures of the sea. Here we see the dark blue eye of a few days old Baby Great White Shark gleaming in the light. This shot was taken near Dyer Island and Gyser Rock off the coast of Gansbaai in the Western Cape, South Africa. Great White Sharks are impressive predators from birth, capable of fending for themselves. This pup is between 1.10 and 1.50 meters long and feeds on small fish and squids. It is cautious and quickly disappears when an adult shark appears. Only a few manage to reach adulthood.
Location: Western Cape, Gansbaai/Dyer Island, South Africa
