Fascinating encounter with a baby great white shark near our boat (00015263)

Baby great white shark observed underwater from our boat

Description: The baby great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias) swims curiously beneath the water surface near our boat. Our unforgettable experience off the coast of Gansbaai and Dyer Island allowed us to observe this fascinating animal in its natural habitat. Great white sharks are fully developed at birth and must survive independently from the start. They mainly feed on small fish and squids. Pups are extremely cautious and react immediately to the presence of adult sharks. Only a few baby sharks manage to reach adulthood.
