Description: The majestic Female Barbary lion (Panthera leo leo) rests in the shade of a tree in the heat of the day. The Barbary lion, known for its impressive mane, once roamed North Africa but became extinct in the wild in 1910. However, a few specimens can still be found in zoos and with private owners. Successful breeding programs have reintroduced the Barbary lion, although current populations are not purebred.
