Description: The cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) is a fascinating predator that is nearly extinct in Asia and severely endangered in Africa. Known for its long legs, it is the fastest land mammal on Earth. Cheetah populations in different regions show genetic variations. At the Hoedspruit Research & Breeding Centre in Kapama Private Game Reserve, both bred and rescued cheetahs are cared for and prepared for release into the wild.
