Adorable Baby Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) with a Dangerous Stare (00016022)
Description: The baby cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) exudes a certain dangerous allure, despite being so young. This seven-week-old cub is being nurtured in a private cheetah breeding station near the Addo Elephant Park and is destined to be reintroduced into the wild. Cheetahs are known as the fastest land animals, capable of reaching speeds of up to 120 km/h. Sadly, the population of wild cheetahs has drastically declined due to habitat loss, poaching for zoos, and the illegal trade in their skins. Farmers and ranchers often see them as a threat to their livestock and resort to drastic measures to keep them at bay.
