Description: The cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) is the fastest land animal and this adorable baby Cheetah skillfully climbs onto the fallen tree trunk. This is a young, seven-week-old individual being cared for at a private cheetah breeding station near the Addo Elephant Park. The goal is to eventually release the cheetah back into the wild. The cheetah population is rapidly declining, primarily due to habitat loss, hunting for zoos, and the illegal trade of their skins. Farmers and ranchers often view these big cats as a threat to their herds and may kill them.
