Description: The Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) is a fascinating predator that is nearly extinct in Asia and highly endangered in Africa. With its distinctive black spots and sleek body, it is known as the fastest land mammal. Cheetah populations from different regions show genetic variations. This image captures a young cheetah housed in a captive environment. The Hoedspruit Research & Breeding Centre in the Kapama Private Game Reserve breeds cheetahs for future release into the wild.
